 ZIKRA (remembracne)A Nostalgic Journey of 20th Century Arabic Music November 19th, 2000 @ La Zona Rosa A concert performance of Zein Al-Jundi with Zikra's Arabic Music Ensemble. It features songs from the 20th Century Arabic Music repertoire, which spans from the 20's to the 70's and fall in the traditional as well as the non-traditional Arabic Music genres. This performance is a personal nostolgic music journey of Zein Al-Jundi and the songs she, along with many people of her generation, grew up with. The Ensemble comprises of members of California's George Lammam Emsemble with Elias Lammam on the quarter tone accordion, George Lammam on violin and Fouad Marzouk on qanun (Arabic Zither). And from Houston's Trans Arabian Sounds, Hani Issa on oud (Arabic lute) and Muhammad Elmasri on percussion will join. Saher Tawil from The Dallas Saadi M'nawwar Band will be playing percussion as well. Doors will open @ 7 PM with a social hour until 8 PM when the live music starts.
